High prevalence of chronic kidney disease among patients with diabetic foot: A cross-sectional study at a tertiary hospital in China
Nephrology May 23, 2019
Zhang Z, et al. - Among 361 patients with diabetic foot (DF), aged 67.9 ± 12.2 years, researchers determined the prevalence of chronic kidney disease (CKD) in this cross-sectional study at a tertiary hospital. They defined CKD as an estimated glomerular filtration rate < 60 mL/min per 1.73 m2or the presence of proteinuria (urine protein ≥1). Uric acid, homocysteine, and HBA1C were the variables that were found to be correlated with CKD, after adjusting for potential confounders in the multivariable logistic regression analysis. A high prevalence (49%) of CKD was evident among DF patient, and it was higher than that seen in inpatients in general.
