Tagaya M, et al. – Study's objective is to detect whether hemodialysis membrane coated with a polymer having a hydrophilic blood–contacting layer can enhance diffusional performance. Without affecting the sieving coefficient of albumin, biocompatible polymer coating agent (BPA)–coated membranes enhance the diffusion rate of molecules with low and middle molecular weight. Based on this outcome, this study expresses the potential of BPA coating to enhance the dialysis performance of membranes.
