Hand grip strength in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
International Journal of COPD Aug 31, 2017
Jeong M, et al. – This investigation was carried out to compare hand grip strength (HGS) between subjects with and without COPD and to assess its clinical relevance in patients with COPD by using a national survey. Researchers reported that HGS was not different between subjects with and without COPD, but was related to the quality of life (QoL)  including mobility, daily activity, pain/discomfort, and anxiety/depression  in patients with COPD. They suggested that the HGS test could be used as a marker of quality of life (QoL) in patients with COPD and could assist risk stratification in clinical practice.
