Glucose transporter-1 (GLUT-1) expression in psoriasis: Correlation with disease severity
International Journal of Dermatology Jun 11, 2018
Hodeib AAH, et al. - Researchers evaluated the glucose transporter-1 (GLUT-1) (a member of facilitative sugar transporters that are integral membrane glycoproteins moving sugar across cell membrane) expression in psoriasis. They noted a probable role of the GLUT-1 not only in the onset of psoriasis but also in the progression and severity of the disease. Via the facilitation of epidermal hyperproliferation, inflammation, and angiogenesis, a possible participation of GLUT-1 in the pathogenesis of psoriasis was indicated.
