An inverse association of eGFR with circulating adhesion molecules vascular adhesion molecule–1 (VCAM–1) and monocyte chemoattractant protein–1 (MCP–1) and several inflammation markers was observed in a general population. However, particularly, tumour necrosis factor receptor 1 (TNF-R1) and TNF–α inflammation markers ascertained patients with eGFR<60mL/min/1.73 m2 more accurately.
