Global multi-site, prospective analysis of cataract surgery outcomes following ICHOM standards: The European CAT-Community
Graefe's Archive for Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology Apr 20, 2021
Zijlmans BLM, van Zijderveld R, Manzulli M, et al. - In this prospective non-interventional multicenter observational descriptive study, researchers sought to assess in a large sample of patients from 10 different European centers the results of cataract surgery, characterizing the association between patient-reported outcomes (PROMs) and clinician-reported outcome measures (CROMs). Three thousand seven hundred ninety-nine cases undergoing cataract surgery (mean age: 72.7 years) were analyzed. Cataract surgery improves functional vision in the majority of patients, though this benefit can be limited by ocular comorbidities and complications. PROMs and CROMs have a multifaceted and complex relationship.
