Genetic variants associated with serum alanine aminotransferase levels among patients with hepatitis C virus infection: A genome‐wide association study
Journal of Viral Hepatitis May 23, 2021
Liu PC, Chan C, Huang YH, et al. - Researchers conducted a genome-wide association study to distinguish single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) associated with alanine aminotransferase (ALT) levels. They further assessed ALT-associated SNP for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) risk. They used a cohort of 892 anti-HCV seropositive patients for the Genome-Wide SNP array to explore the relationships with baseline ALT levels. It was shown that rs568800 was correlated with serum ALT levels and HCC risk. Among patients who have received antivirals, clinical utility should be assessed.
