Functional outcome of surgically treated U-shaped sacral fractures: Experience from 41 cases

He L, et al. - A total of 41 individuals were followed for a mean of 4.1 years to illustrate the changes in the functional consequences of surgically treated U-shaped sacral fractures. Authors recorded pain in 40 candidates at 1 year. They observed 36 subjects with neurological deficiencies involving the lower extremities at baseline and showed improvement in the first year only. Twenty-three candidates were observed with impaired bladder function whereas 13 had impaired bowel function at 3 months. They noted sexual dysfunction as the most common ailment.
