Full-fat dairy food intake is associated with a lower risk of incident diabetes among American Indians with low total dairy food intake
The Journal of Nutrition Apr 27, 2019
Kummer K, et al. – In a cohort of American Indians from the Strong Heart Family Study, researchers investigated the risk of incident diabetes in relation to intake of full- and low-fat dairy foods. Study participants (n=1,623; 60.8% females) were free of diabetes at baseline (2001–2003) and were aged 14–86 years at baseline. Low dairy food consumption was reported by study participants. Lower risk of diabetes was observed among participants who reported higher full-fat dairy food consumption vs participants who reported lower intake.
