Five-year incidence and risk factors for idiopathic epiretinal membranes
Retina Mar 30, 2019
Bae JH, et al. - Researchers estimated 2152 participants of age 50 years or older to analyze the 5-year incidence of idiopathic epiretinal membrane (ERM) along with its risk factors in Korean adults. They reported the development of idiopathic ERM developed in 82 candidates who had no earlier ERM in either eye at baseline. They found the overall age-standardized incidence of 3.8% including 2.3% with cellophane macular reflex and 1.5% with preretinal macular fibrosis. They suggested factors like age and hypertriglyceridemia responsible for an increase in the risk of developing idiopathic ERM.
