Fertility and ovarian reserve among women with rheumatoid arthritis
The Journal of Rheumatology May 04, 2019
Eudy AM, et al. - In women with and without rheumatoid arthritis (RA), researchers identified causes for infertility. For this investigation, women with RA have been matched to healthy controls. They analyzed differences in anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) and anovulation. Women with RA had lower AMH, but when AMH was log-transformed, no difference was noted. There was no difference in anovulation. The prevalence of infertility among groups was similar, primarily attributable in healthy controls to polycystic ovary syndrome but largely unexplained in women with RA. Overall, the authors concluded that AMH was lower in women with RA but there are still unknown reasons for infertility among women with RA.
