Female sleep patterns, shift work, and fecundability in a North American preconception cohort study
Fertility and Sterility Apr 19, 2019
Willis SK, et al. - Researchers designed a web-based preconception cohort study, Pregnancy Study Online (PRESTO), including North American women aged 21–45 years attempting pregnancy, to prospectively assess whether a correlation exists between female sleep patterns, shift work, and fecundability. They analyzed a total of 6,873 women who were attempting pregnancy for ≤6 months. Outcomes revealed a modest reduction in fecundability in correlation with trouble sleeping at night. Shorter sleep duration was noted to have a weaker inverse association with fecundability. Shift work was not identified to be associated with fecundability.
