Factors predictive of poorer outcomes in the surgical repair of multiligament knee injuries
Knee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy Aug 09, 2018
Alentorn-Geli E, et al. - In multiligament knee injuries (MLKI), authors gauged the influence of injury and treatment factors on clinical/functional outcomes. Findings suggested a probable negative influence of bicruciate ligament, meniscal, and cartilage injuries on the outcomes of MLKI. Outcomes may be similarly diminished with regards to treatment characteristics, need for PLC or bicruciate ligament reconstruction, use of allografts, or need for meniscal repair. While, good overall function, range of motion (ROM) and stability are provided by the surgical treatment, it rarely results in a “normal” knee and the chances of complications and reoperations are high.
