Factors in early adolescence associated with a mole-prone phenotype in late adolescence

JAMA Dermatology Oct 24, 2017

Xu H, et al. - This analysis was initiated in order to determine the host, behavioral, and dermoscopic factors in early adolescence (age, 14 years) that correlated with a mole-prone phenotype in late adolescence (age, 17 years). This research shed light on the clinically recognizable factors related to a mole-prone phenotype which could facilitate the detection of subjects at risk for melanoma. It displayed potential implications for primary prevention strategies and assisted in addressing the at-risk adolescents for higher-intensity counseling with regard to sun protection and skin self-examination.
