Factors facilitating and hindering the intention to promote pulmonary rehabilitation for patients with COPD among respiratory therapists
International Journal of COPD Sep 25, 2017
Chen YJ, et al. - This research applied the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) to investigate respiratory therapists' (RTs) behavioral intentions to promote pulmonary rehabilitation (PR) and factors affecting these intents. Findings suggested a strong intent of RTs to promote PR but insufficient knowledge, attitudes, and self-efficacy with regard to it worked as a hindrance. TPB application offered insight into which factors could be addressed, and by whom. For example, enhancing RTs self-efficacy could be achieved via PR training via school curricula, further regular continuing education and/or courses, and practical experience.
