Factors associated with the successful completion of randomized controlled trials in gynecological oncology
Gynecologic Oncology Nov 11, 2019
Swailes A, et al. - In order to define the factors related to the successful completion of a randomized controlled trial in gynecological oncology, researchers undertook this retrospective cohort analysis, wherein, they analyzed data, obtained from 2009 to 2013, from the National Institutes of Health's US National Library of Medicine database on ClinicalTrials.gov. Successful completion of 149 of the 318 identified randomized controlled trials over a median length of 44 months was reported, as of September 1, 2018. The probability of being conducted at single centers was more for completed randomized controlled trials. No significant more likelihood of being completed was noted for interventional, drug and device trials. Overall, they found that none of the identified factors including site of origin, number of participating sites, funding source, intervention type, enrollment size, and study length, was related to increased rates of trial publication.
