Factors associated with anthropometric indicators of nutritional status in children with chronic kidney disease undergoing peritoneal dialysis, hemodialysis, and after kidney transplant
Journal of Renal Nutrition May 20, 2018
De Alba Verduzco JG, et al. - Researchers intended to demonstrate that there are disparities in the factors related to anthropometric indicators of nutritional status, with particular emphasis on arm indicators, in children with end-stage kidney disease undergoing peritoneal dialysis (PD), hemodialysis (HD), and after kidney transplant (KT). For parametric variables, Student's t-test and analysis of variance were used and for nonparametric variables, they used Chi-square test, Mann-Whitney U test, Kruskal-Wallis test, and odds ratio (OR). More impact of socioeconomic conditions was observed for children in the HD program. The children who underwent KT exhibited improved nutritional status; however, not all anthropometric indicators were fully recovered. These children were up to 9 times more likely to be overweight or obese.
