Extended depth of focus lens implantation after radial keratotomy
Clinical Ophthalmology Aug 04, 2019
Baartman BJ, Karpuk K, Eichhorn B, et al. - In this retrospective chart review with a questionnaire, researchers identified the visual performance of radial keratotomy (RK, the most common corneal refractive surgery performed in the US) patients who underwent cataract surgery with implantation of an extended depth of focus (EDOF) intraocular lens (IOL). For this investigation, they reviewed medical charts of patients with RK history who had undergone phacoemulsification with Tecnis Symfony IOL (J&J Vision) implantation. It included 24 eyes of 12 patients. After surgery, 78% of patients reported satisfaction with their vision and 44% reported spectacle free for all tasks. An EDOF lens implant in patients with an RK history can generate excellent visual results and satisfaction.
