Exposure to cypress pollens and subsequent symptoms: A panel study
International Archives of Allergy and Immunology Aug 10, 2019
Rakotozandry T, Cassagne E, Martin S, et al. - Among patients (n = 47) with allergy to cypress pollen, researchers examined the link between exposure to cypress pollen and allergic symptoms. The participants were asked to complete a daily diary and underwent a weekly assessment of quality of life (QoL) during the cypress pollen season. In three consecutive pollen seasons ie, 2014–2015, 2015–2016, and 2016–2017, different patients were included. From the National Aerobiological Network, they collected daily cypress pollen counts. A daily record of air pollution and meteorological data was maintained. Findings revealed a significant link between exposure to cypress pollens and allergic symptoms, with a plateau impact for high exposures. In this panel study, a linear and significant link of QoL score with the cypress pollen count was reported. No threshold level was detected.
