Evaluation of treatment of acne scars with 25% trichloroacetic acid chemical peel followed by manual dermasanding
Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology May 28, 2021
Al-Hamamy HR, et al. - In this investigation involving 13 patients (nine females and four males), researchers tested the safety and efficacy of 25% trichloroacetic acid (TCA) alone or followed by manual dermasanding in repeated sessions for the treatment of mild and moderate acne scars. All patients received a 25% TCA superficial peel, which was followed by manual dermasanding in 11 of them. After TCA peeling and each dermasanding session, the scarring acne score decreased. For the treatment of mild and moderate acne scars, a TCA superficial peel followed by manual dermasanding in separate sessions was effective, and the improvement became more significant after repeated dermasanding sessions.
