Evaluation of efficacy and safety of chemical peeling and long‐pulse Nd:YAG laser in treatment of pseudofolliculitis barbae
Dermatologic Therapy Mar 06, 2021
Amer A, et al. - In the present study, the researchers sought to evaluate and compare the effectiveness and safety of long-pulsed Nd:YAG laser vs chemical peeling in the treatment of pseudofolliculitis barbae (PFB). They randomly divided 20 male PFB patients into two groups. Group A treated with long-pulsed laser Nd:Yag and group B treated with chemical peeling were all treated before full clearance or a maximum of 5 sessions. In comparison with baseline results, a decrease in the quantity of papules/pustules was statistically more important in the laser group than in the peeling group for PFB care in the mandibular and neck regions at the end of the session and follow-up assessments. In treating PFB, both therapies are successful and safe, but laser therapy is more effective than peeling therapy.
