Evaluation and management of erectile dysfunction in the hypertensive patient
Current Cardiology Reports Aug 28, 2017
Patel JP, et al. – This study offers recommendations for the management of erectile dysfunction in the hypertensive patients. The analysis of relevant current literature data was performed. Findings recommended a treatment protocol including an angiotensin–receptor blocker followed by an angiotensin–converting enzyme inhibitor or calcium channel blocker for the treatment of hypertension in patients with erectile dysfunction. While prescribing other agents, clinicians must carefully consider their adverse impacts on sexual function. PDE–5 inhibitors remain the first–line treatment for these subjects and these patients should be assessed for cardiovascular fitness for sexual activity.
