Estrogen treatment in infertile women with premature ovarian insufficiency in transitional phase: A retrospective analysis
Journal of Assisted Reproduction and Genetics Dec 08, 2017
Pinelli S, et al. - Researchers performed this work to examine whether treatment with estrogens in premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) patients in transitional phase could reduce FSH levels and to assess if this pre-treatment could improve reproductive outcomes of in vitro fertilization (IVF). In infertile POI patients, treatment with estrogens in transitional phase reduced circulating FSH levels, hence caused potential spontaneous conception. In addition, estrogen pre-treatment in these patients appeared to improve IVF outcomes in a GnRH-antagonist short protocol compared to no pre-treatment.
