Dermatologic Therapy Oct 15, 2020
Askin O, Altunkalem RN, Uzuncakmak TK, et al. - Researchers sought to analyze clinical, laboratory, and histopathological findings of erythrodermic inpatients prospectively in Istanbul University‐Cerrahpasa Cerrahpasa Medical Faculty between January 2018 and 2020. Forty-seven patients who were hospitalized and treated in the department were included in the study in a 2‐year period. Patients were classified into seven subgroups: psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, drug‐induced erythroderma, mycosis fungoides, pityriasis rubra pilaris, bullous pemphigoid, and polymorphous light eruption. During the acute stage, all patients had a biopsy and diagnoses were histopathologically confirmed. For histopathological confirmation, some patients have had multiple biopsies. In the study, most patients were men over 54 years of age. Psoriasis is the most common etiological cause of erythroderma.
