Epidermal Langerhans cells resistance to solar-simulated radiation in actinic prurigo patients with low minimal erythema dose
Photodermatology, Photoimmunology and Photomedicine Feb 09, 2020
Valbuena MC, et al. - In the present study, the researchers sought to assess the impact of solar-simulated radiation (SSR) on epidermal Langerhans cells in the uninvolved skin of actinic prurigo [an uncommon chronic inflammatory dermatosis with lesions induced by ultraviolet radiation] individuals. Participants in the study were 15 patients with actinic prurigo. In actinic prurigo patients with low MED, epidermal Langerhans cells migration after ultraviolet radiation exposure is reduced as has been documented in PLE patients, particularly those with low MED or positive UVB provocation tests. In these two photodermatoses, Langerhans cells resistance might be part of a common pathogenic mechanism.
