Elderly onset of early rheumatoid arthritis is a risk factor for bone erosions, refractory to treatment: KURAMA cohort
International Journal of Rheumatic Diseases Dec 20, 2018
Murata K, et al. - Authors gauged how old age at disease onset affects patient treatment and prognosis in early rheumatoid arthritis (RA). They analyzed data from the Kyoto University Rheumatoid Arthritis Management Alliance (KURAMA) cohort. In EORA, bone erosions were more frequently found. To protect bone erosions in the ACPA-positive EORA patients, clinical remission at 1 or 2 years was not enough to protect bone erosions. They suggested consideration of optimal treatment strategies preventing radiological damage for EORA. In EORA, disease activity was higher than in YORA at baseline.
