Elderly onset of early rheumatoid arthritis is a risk factor for bone erosions, refractory to treatment: KURAMA cohort
International Journal of Rheumatic Diseases Dec 08, 2018
Murata K, et al. - Authors gauged how old age at disease onset affects patient treatment and prognosis in early rheumatoid arthritis (RA). They evaluated the data from the Kyoto University Rheumatoid Arthritis Management Alliance (KURAMA) cohort. They noted more frequent presence of bone erosions in elderly-onset RA (EORA). In order to protect bone erosions in the ACPA-positive EORA patients, clinical remission at 1 or 2 years was not enough. Findings suggested consideration of optimal treatment strategies preventing radiological damage for EORA.
