Efficacy of revision surgery for the treatment of stiffness after total knee arthroplasty: A systematic review
Journal of Arthroplasty May 05, 2018
Cohen JS, et al. - Authors assessed the efficacy of revision surgery, a possible treatment for refractory postoperative stiffness in patients after total knee arthroplasty. Results demonstrated that in most patients who require surgery for stiffness, revision TKA resulted in an increased range of motion, improved functionality, and reduced pain. Identification of the aetiology could help in surgical planning. The patients ought to be counselled by the surgeons performing revision TKA on the risks and benefits of undergoing revision surgery, with the understanding that outcomes for well-selected patients were generally favourable.
