Efficacy of interventions to prevent physical and sexual dating violence among adolescents: A systematic review and meta-analysis
JAMA Pediatrics Feb 12, 2022
Researchers conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized clinical trials investigating the efficacy of prevention programs for physical and sexual teen dating violence.
A total of 18 trials including 22,781 adolescents were included.
A significant reduction in overall physical and sexual violence was recorded in correlation with the implementation of interventions targeting dating violence among adolescents.
However, there was a significant reduction for physical violence only, when examined as separate outcomes.
Overall findings support the effectiveness of prevention programs in lowering physical dating violence among adolescents.
There was unclear evidence on sexual violence outcomes highlighting the necessity for further research studies.
