Efficacy of conical laminoplasty after thoracic laminectomy
Journal of Spinal Disorders & Techniques May 04, 2018
Kobayashi K, et al. - Researchers assessed the results of a new method of laminoplasty, referred to as conical laminoplasty after thoracic laminectomy. Among the 3 groups, no significant difference between the number of laminae removed and Japanese Orthopedic Association recovery rates was seen. In a case in which T-saw laminoplasty could not be performed due to tumour expansion in the canal and ossification of the ligamentum flavum, conical laminoplasty was particularly useful. The posterior elements were preserved by conical laminoplasty, which reduced the risk of worsening of kyphosis postoperatively.
