Efficacy of antifungal drugs in the treatment of vulvovaginal candidiasis: A Bayesian network meta-analysis
Infection and Drug Resistance Oct 25, 2018
Qin F, et al. - In the treatment of vulvovaginal candidiasis (VVC), researchers aimed at determining the efficacy of different antifungal drugs and at providing an evidence-based reference for clinical use. They searched PubMed, Embase, the Cochrane Library, and ClinicalTrials.gov. for the published studies on the effectiveness of antifungal drugs in the treatment of VVC (up to April 2018). Analysis of 41 randomized controlled trials was done to assess the relative risk of VVC associated with ten drugs, including placebo, fluconazole, clotrimazole, miconazole, itraconazole, ketoconazole, econazole, butoconazole, terbinafine, and terconazole. Outcomes support that antifungal drugs are efficacious in the treatment of VVC. As per this analysis, fluconazole seems the best drug for treating VVC.
