Matzkin EG, et al. - This study appraised intra-articular corticosteroid injections as pain relievers in patients with symptomatic knee osteoarthritis (OA) and, investigated determinants of treatment response. Improved pain and function were observed as a result of intra-articular corticosteroid injections in these subjects, however, less improvement should be expected in patients with obesity and/or advanced arthritis. Findings revealed that clinical gains of these injections were less predictable.
