Photodermatology, Photoimmunology and Photomedicine Jan 20, 2019
Rattanakaemakorn P, et al. - Investigators assessed the medical records of 20 individuals of mean age 47.45 ± 17.93 years to estimate the effectiveness, safety, and adequate dosage of 308-nm excimer light in the treatment of scalp psoriasis. They observed 11 subjects who responded to treatment at the end of 10 sessions. They recorded the median baseline Psoriatic Scalp Severity Index (PSSI) of value 12 initially but 4.5 at the end of the protocol suggesting a statistically significant reduction. They also recorded some mild adverse effects like erythema, irritation, and desquamation. Overall, they recommended 308-nm excimer light requiring short treatment time as an alternative or adjuvant treatment for scalp psoriasis.
