Effects of N-nitro L-arginine methyl ester and α-tocopherol on testicular oxidative stress caused by exposure to cigarette smoke
Andrologia Jun 21, 2019
Kara Y, et al. - Via a study on 45 wistar male rats, the researchers investigated the effects of N-nitro L-arginine methyl ester and α-tocopherol on testicular oxidative stress provoked by exposure to cigarette smoke. Five groups were created and assessed. In the smoking group, structural and functional disturbances at the cellular and hormonal levels were observed. Biochemical evaluations exhibited a reduction in cellular damage in treatment groups and histological examinations revealed the elimination of damage caused by cigarette smoke exposure in treatment groups. Hence, improvement in oxidative damage and hormonal irregularity in the testes tissue caused by cigarette smoke could be seen with α-tocopherol and N-nitro L-arginine methyl ester application.
