Journal of Arthroplasty Jan 20, 2021
Phruetthiphat OA, Lawanprasert A, Khuangsirikul S, et al. - This study was attempted to distinguish the efficacy of periarticular injection following bipolar hemiarthroplasty compared it with the patients treated with conventional pain control. Researchers conducted a prospective, randomized, controlled study for displaced femoral neck fracture in elderly who had undergone bipolar hemiarthroplasty from 2017 until 2019. Individuals were categorized into two groups: The periarticular injection group and the non-periarticular injection group. They collected morphine usage in both groups including its side effects. For displaced femoral neck fracture in the elderly, intra-operative, periarticular injection may be applied as an adjunctive pain management in bipolar hemiarthroplasty.
