Effectiveness of a binocular video game vs placebo video game for improving visual functions in older children, teenagers, and adults with amblyopia: A randomized clinical trial
JAMA Ophthalmology Jan 10, 2018
Gao TY, et al. - During this study, authors undertook a comparative inspection of the effectiveness of a binocular video game with a placebo video game for improving visual functions in older children and adults with amblyopia. No greater improvement was yielded in the visual outcomes due to the specific home-based binocular falling-blocks video game when compared to the placebo video game, regardless of the increases in fellow eye contrast during gameplay. Hence, it was deduced that more engaging video games with considerations for compliance could cause an improvement in the effectiveness.
