Effectiveness and safety of thermal ablation in the treatment of primary hyperparathyroidism: A multicenter study
Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism Apr 16, 2021
Wei Y, Peng CZ, Wang SR, et al. - The effectiveness and safety of thermal ablation for primary hyperparathyroidism (pHPT) were determined via retrospectively analyzing data pertaining to patients receiving thermal ablation for pHPT at 4 centers. Researchers enrolled 119 patients (mean age, 57.2 ± 16.3 years; 81 female) with 134 parathyroid nodules. Microwave ablation (MWA) was performed in 96 patients, and radiofrequency ablation (RFA) was done in 23 patients. Observations revealed the technical success rate of 98.3% and the cure rate of 89.9%. They overall support the effectiveness and safety of thermal ablation for pHPT.
