Majzoub A, ElBardisi H, Covarrubias S, et al. - A meta‐analysis was performed to analyze the effect of subinguinal microsurgical varicocelectomy on semen parameters and fertility outcomes of men with severe oligozoospermia (SO). Researchers performed a retrospective chart review of 85 patients on patients with SO who had undergone microsurgical subinguinal varicocelectomy. They carried out a literature search according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta‐Analyses guidelines. For the meta‐analysis, they enrolled a total of 8 studies evaluating the effects of varicocele ligation in men with SO. The results revealed a statistically significant increase in sperm count, total motility, and total motile sperm count (TMSC) following surgery. According to the findings, 27.5% was the reported natural pregnancy rate. The outcomes demonstrated that varicocelectomy does present as an important treatment option for SO patients because improvements in TMSC can broaden their fertility treatment options.
