Effect of mannose‐binding lectin gene polymorphisms on the risk of rheumatoid arthritis: Evidence from a meta‐analysis
International Journal of Rheumatic Diseases Feb 02, 2021
Xu J, Chen G, Yan Z, et al. - The present study was performed to evaluate the impact of mannose‐binding lectin (MBL) gene polymorphisms on the susceptibility of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in ethnically different populations, whereas the results were always inconsistent. Researchers included 14 articles involving 36 datasets to assess the relationship between MBL gene polymorphisms and rheumatoid arthritis in a meta‐analysis. The pooled odds ratios and their corresponding 95% confidence intervals were assessed by applying random or fixed-effect models. The results demonstrated that in Brazilian and Indian populations, structural polymorphisms in exon 1 of the MBL gene may significantly contribute to susceptibility and development of RA, whereas the functional polymorphisms in the promoter region were more likely to correlate with RA in East Asians.
