Retina Mar 31, 2019
Rahimy E, et al. - Investigators studied 28 subjects in Group A, 19 in Group B, and 857 controls to quantify the influence of intraocular pressure-lowering medicines on therapy outcomes in the Comparison of AMD Treatments Trials. They found a mean visual acuity improvement of +6.3 letters from baseline in the control group vs +3.5 letters in Group A and +13.8 letters in Group B after 2 years. They also noticed mean retinal thickness change from baseline, −54.9 μm in controls, −80.6 μm in Group A, and −96.8 μm in Group B. They did not observe a similar effect to the same extent with agents which increased the aqueous outflow.
