Effect of increased coronal inclination of the tibial plateau after opening-wedge high tibial osteotomy
Arthroscopy Apr 26, 2018
Akamatsu Y, et al. - Authors evaluated the increased inclination of the tibial plateau on the coronal view following opening-wedge high tibial osteotomy affects radiographic coronal alignment, clinical outcomes, and cartilage findings. At 1 year postoperatively, experts did not note any significant differences in the changes in the appearance of the articular surfaces between the 2 groups. Compared to the patients with a postoperative medial proximal tibial angle (MPTA) of 95° or less, patients with a postoperative medial proximal tibial angle (MPTA) greater than 95° had more valgus alignment and higher joint line obliquity and had a lower Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS) sports and recreational function subscale score at 2 years postoperatively.
