Current Orthopaedic Practice Mar 04, 2019
Ahmadzadeh Heshmati A, et al. - In view of the controversies regarding the use of local injection of corticosteroid medication which is one of the most common therapeutic treatments in inflammatory diseases, researchers studied 170 patients with de Quervain disease, lateral epicondylitis, or plantar fasciitis. According to doses of the steroids (20 mg and 40 mg methylprednisolone acetate, respectively), the patients were divided into two groups (groups 1 and 2). As per outcomes, these patients had improvement in symptoms in correlation with a local 20-mg injection of methylprednisolone acetate. They identified no more benefits on administering more doses of the steroid.
