Effect of aspirin response signature gene expression on preterm birth and preeclampsia among women with lupus: A pilot study
Lupus Nov 09, 2019
Eudy AM, et al. - A total of 48 RNA samples from 23 pregnancies in the Duke Autoimmunity Pregnancy Registry were involved in this pilot study to quantify the relationship between a 60-gene aspirin response signature (ARS) gene expression with preterm birth and preeclampsia risk amongst women with lupus taking aspirin. Nine delivered preterm and four had preeclampsia out of the 23 pregnancies. Among individuals who encountered a poor pregnancy outcome vs those who did not, the expression of PBX1 and MMD was higher in the second trimester. Nonetheless, in a global test of all ARS genes, no relationship between the expression of ARS genes and poor pregnancy outcomes was discovered. Therefore, this pilot study recognized two candidate genes that are suggestive of the platelet function response to aspirin.
