Effect of abutment height on interproximal implant bone level in the early healing: A randomized clinical trial

Clinical Oral Implants Research Dec 15, 2017

Blanco J, et al. - The researchers compared the effect on the interproximal implant bone loss (IBL) of 2 different heights (1 and 3 mm) of definitive abutments placed at bone level implants with a platform switched design. In order to maintain interproximal implant bone level in early healing, abutment height was an important factor. In comparison with long abutments, short abutments led to a greater interproximal bone loss after 6 months. Other variables revealed no relation with the interproximal bone loss in early healing, except smoking.
