Researchers examined how an inpatient symptom monitoring intervention influences symptom burden and healthcare use among hospitalized patients with advanced cancer.

No significant impact of an inpatient symptom monitoring intervention was observed on patients’ self-reported physical and psychological symptoms or their hospital length of stay and 30-day readmission rates.
Overall inpatient symptom monitoring intervention did not appear to have a significant effect on symptom burden or health care use among hospitalized patients with advanced cancer.
