Effect of a home-based exercise program on subsequent falls among community-dwelling high-risk older adults after a fall : A randomized clinical trial
JAMA Jun 09, 2019
Ambrose TL, et al. - A 12-month, single-blind, randomized clinical trial including 344 older adults was carried out by the researchers to assess the effects of a fall prevention strategy and a home-based exercise program in older adults who were referred to a fall prevention clinic after an index fall. Significant reduction in the rate of subsequent falls compared with usual care among older people post-care at a fall prevention clinic after a fall and a home-based strength and balance retraining exercise program was reported by a geriatrician. Furthermore, no adverse events were reported in relation to the intervention.
