Echocardiographic predictors of long-term adverse cardiovascular outcomes in patients with and without diabetes mellitus: A follow-up analysis of the Copenhagen City Heart Study
Diabetic Medicine Jun 25, 2021
Özbek BT, Modin D, Møgelvang R, et al. - Experts aspired to explore whether echocardiographic predictors of cardiovascular outcome vary between people with diabetes mellitus (DM) and individuals without DM from the general population. From 2001 to 2003, an echocardiogram was performed on 1,997 people in the general population who did not have heart disease. A total of 292 candidates (15%) had diabetes at baseline. E/e' is a stronger predictor of cardiovascular mortality and morbidity in people with diabetes than in people without diabetes, and it contributes incremental prognostic value in addition to established cardiovascular risk factors.
