Early experience and results using PROMIS scores in primary total hip and knee arthroplasty
Journal of Arthroplasty Jun 06, 2019
Stiegel KR, et al. - Researchers sought to determine the predictive value of preoperative PROMIS scores for achieving minimum clinically important differences (MCIDs) in postoperative PROMIS scores after primary total hip and knee arthroplasty. The PROMIS Depression, Pain Interference, and Physical Function domains were administered to 93 patients at their preoperative appointment and 6-week follow up visit. In this work, 74% of patients achieved MCID for Pain Interference, 34% for Physical Function, and 24% for Depression. Outcomes support preoperative PROMIS Pain Interference, Physical Function, and Depression scores as valuable for predicting achievement of MCID in postoperative PROMIS scores.
