E-hookah vs e-cigarettes: Findings from Wave 2 of the PATH Study (2014–2015)
American Journal of Preventive Medicine Oct 04, 2019
Rezk-Hanna M, et al. - Researchers performed weighted analyses using data from the 2014–2015 Wave 2 Population Assessment of Tobacco and Health study, to estimate the prevalence of e-hookah vs e-cigarette, and to analyze comparisons among users and sociodemographics, patterns of utilization, and co-use of tobacco products and substances. They found a less common use of e-hookahs compared with that of e-cigarettes but e-hookah use was not rare. With regard to user demographics and co-use of substances, a different profile was displayed by e-hookah users vs e-cigarette users. Given the quick uptake of ENDS by young adults, the requirement to acquire knowledge on e-hookah products’ distinct features and users’ smoking patterns and behaviors was suggested in order to inform tobacco regulation specific to hookah.
