Duration of dual antiplatelet therapy following drug-eluting stent implantation in diabetic and non-diabetic patients: A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials
Progress in Cardiovascular Diseases | Jan 07, 2018
Sharma A, et al. - In a population of diabetes mellitus (DM) and non-DM patients who underwent drug eluting stent (DES) implantation, the efficacy and safety of short duration dual antiplatelet treatment (DAPT) [(S-DAPT)] and long duration DAPT (L-DAPT) following implantation was assessed. In non-DM patients, S-DAPT vs L-DAPT was found to be related to significant increase in rate of stent thrombosis (ST). Data showed that among DM patients, rates of all cause mortality, cardiac mortality, myocardial infarction (MI), ST, and target vessel revascularization (TVR) were not significantly influenced by the duration of DAPT.
